Dr. Otto Gomez will present a HAPCO Jazz Master Class series at Carver Middle School in Orlando. The weekly classes are October 16, 23 and 30 and November 6. The first class will focus on “What Is Jazz?” and “How To Improvise”. Dr. Gomez works with Carver Middle School’s Music Faculty Jorge Martinez Matos.
Class goals are to expand student interest in jazz and music overall as well as to help students improve their musical skills and their sense of accomplishment as growing musicians. HAPCO is an OCPS Partner in Education.
Dr. Otto holds a Doctorate in Arranging and Composition from Shepperton University and The Manhattan School of Music in New York. He has toured with The Stylistics, Stevie Wonder and Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes. He has composed and conducted award-winning radio commercials, as well as presiding over many recordings and musical productions in the Central Florida area. Presently, he is the Professor of Trumpet at The Orlando School of Music and has numerous amounts of private students. He has been teaching trumpet for over 30 years.
