Thank You for Supporting HAPCO

Thank you for supporting HAPCO Music Foundation.

Every contribution helps us fulfill our mission of enriching lives through music, arts, education and community engagement. Through the generosity of individuals, businesses, foundations and community partners, HAPCO is able to provide educational opportunities, concerts, scholarships, instrument donations, community programs and other initiatives that inspire and strengthen the communities we serve.

We are deeply grateful for every gift, regardless of size.

This Donation Policy explains how charitable contributions made to HAPCO Music Foundation are accepted, processed, acknowledged and administered.

Our Commitment to Donors

HAPCO Music Foundation is committed to:

  • Using donated funds responsibly and ethically.
  • Honoring donor intent whenever reasonably possible.
  • Being transparent about our fundraising practices.
  • Protecting donor privacy.
  • Providing timely acknowledgments for charitable contributions.
  • Stewarding charitable resources in support of our mission.

Tax-Exempt Status

HAPCO Music Foundation is recognized as a nonprofit charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Contributions may be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Because individual tax circumstances vary, donors should consult their tax advisor regarding the deductibility of their contributions.

Types of Donations

HAPCO gratefully accepts many forms of charitable support, including:

  • One-time online donations
  • Recurring monthly or annual donations
  • Corporate contributions
  • Sponsorships
  • Memorial and tribute gifts
  • Matching gifts
  • In-kind donations of goods or services
  • Grants from foundations and charitable organizations
  • Other charitable contributions that further HAPCO's mission

Acceptance of certain gifts may be subject to review by HAPCO based on legal, financial or operational considerations.

Online Donations

Online donations may be made through the HAPCO website using secure third-party payment processors.

Payment information is encrypted during transmission and processed in accordance with applicable payment industry security standards.

HAPCO does not store complete credit card numbers or payment card security codes on our servers.

Collaborative Giving Campaigns

From time to time, HAPCO Music Foundation may participate in collaborative fundraising campaigns with trusted nonprofit organizations or charitable partners that support our mission.

For example, HAPCO is a participating partner agency of the United Arts Collaborative Campaign for the Arts, an annual community fundraising initiative that supports arts, science and history organizations throughout Central Florida.

When a donation is made through a collaborative campaign website rather than directly through the HAPCO website:

  • The donation is processed by the campaign administrator or designated fundraising partner.
  • The campaign administrator collects and maintains the donor information needed to process the contribution.
  • Donor information is handled in accordance with the campaign administrator's privacy policy and terms of use.
  • Donors may receive communications related to their contribution or the collaborative fundraising campaign and may opt out of those communications as provided by the campaign administrator.

Participation in collaborative fundraising campaigns may also make eligible donations qualify for matching funds or other incentive programs established by the campaign organizer.

Because collaborative campaigns occasionally change, HAPCO encourages donors to review the policies of the applicable fundraising partner before making a contribution through a third-party campaign.

Recurring Donations

Donors may choose to make recurring contributions through available online giving options.

Recurring donations will continue according to the schedule selected by the donor until modified or canceled.

Donors may request changes or cancellation of recurring gifts by contacting HAPCO.

Please allow a reasonable processing period for requested changes to take effect.

Restricted and Unrestricted Gifts

Unless specifically designated by the donor and accepted by HAPCO, contributions are considered unrestricted and may be used where the need is greatest in support of HAPCO's charitable mission.

When a donor designates a contribution for a specific program, scholarship, educational initiative, event or purpose, HAPCO will make every reasonable effort to honor that designation.

If circumstances make the designated purpose no longer practical, feasible or consistent with HAPCO's mission, HAPCO may redirect the contribution to a closely related charitable purpose after appropriate review.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

Donors may make gifts in memory or in honor of an individual, family, organization or special occasion.

When requested, HAPCO will make reasonable efforts to notify the honoree or the family of the honoree that a gift has been received without disclosing the amount of the contribution unless specifically authorized by the donor.

Matching Gifts

Many employers offer charitable matching gift programs.

Donors are encouraged to contact their employer regarding available matching gift opportunities.

HAPCO will gladly assist in completing reasonable documentation required for eligible matching gift programs.

In-Kind Donations

HAPCO gratefully considers donations of musical instruments, equipment, educational materials, professional services, auction items and other goods that support our mission.

Acceptance of in-kind donations is based upon HAPCO's current needs, available resources, storage capacity, safety considerations and program requirements.

HAPCO reserves the right to decline donations that cannot reasonably be used or maintained.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise, donated property becomes the property of HAPCO upon acceptance.

Donation Receipts

HAPCO will provide written acknowledgment of charitable contributions as required by applicable law.

Donation acknowledgments generally include:

  • HAPCO's legal name;
  • the date of the contribution;
  • the amount of a cash donation or a description of non-cash property received;
  • a statement regarding whether goods or services were provided in exchange for the contribution, when applicable.

Donors are responsible for maintaining their own tax records.

Donation Refund Policy

HAPCO understands that donation errors occasionally occur.

If you believe a donation was made in error, please contact HAPCO as soon as possible.

Requests for refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Generally, approved refunds will be issued only when:

  • a duplicate transaction occurred;
  • an incorrect donation amount was processed;
  • an unauthorized transaction is verified; or
  • other exceptional circumstances exist.

Approved refunds will generally be credited to the original payment method whenever possible.

Donor Privacy

HAPCO respects the privacy of every donor.

HAPCO does not sell, rent, or trade donor information to third parties. However, when donations are made through a collaborative fundraising campaign administered by another nonprofit organization or trusted fundraising partner, donor information is collected and managed by that organization in accordance with its own privacy policy. HAPCO receives only the information necessary to acknowledge gifts, administer donor relationships and fulfill its charitable mission.

Personal information collected in connection with charitable contributions is used only for purposes such as:

  • processing donations;
  • issuing receipts;
  • maintaining donor records;
  • communicating with donors;
  • complying with legal requirements; and
  • supporting HAPCO's fundraising and stewardship activities.

Additional information regarding our privacy practices is available in our Privacy Policy.

Recognition of Donors

With a donor's permission, HAPCO may recognize individuals, businesses, foundations, sponsors or organizations in publications, annual reports, event programs, websites, social media, donor walls or other recognition materials.

Donors who prefer to remain anonymous may request that their name not be publicly acknowledged.

HAPCO will honor reasonable requests for anonymous recognition whenever possible.

Securities, Planned Giving and Other Major Gifts

HAPCO welcomes conversations regarding charitable giving opportunities such as:

  • gifts of appreciated securities;
  • donor-advised fund recommendations;
  • qualified charitable distributions;
  • estate gifts;
  • planned giving;
  • charitable trusts;
  • beneficiary designations; and
  • other legacy giving opportunities.

Because these gifts often involve legal and financial considerations, donors are encouraged to consult their professional advisors before making such arrangements.

Changes to This Donation Policy

HAPCO may update this Donation Policy from time to time to reflect changes in organizational practices, fundraising methods, technology or applicable law.

Updated policies become effective upon posting to the HAPCO website unless otherwise stated.
