HAPCO recently donated a saxophone to Evans High School Junior Donte. He did not own his own for practice at home. He wanted to practice more, especially as he is preparing for his college auditions.
A tenor sax player, he is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and play in the jazz and symphonic bands. He has earned Superior ratings for both District and State FBA Solo & Ensemble MPA, performed in the 2024 OCPS All-County Band, and participated in the UCF Rising Knights Honor Band.
Donte said, “I am thankful for the opportunities that HAPCO provides! I appreciate the support more than words can express. I really appreciated that HAPCO came to Evans High School hosting a saxophone clinic. Thank you!”
Thanks to Mario Ford, Evans High School director of bands, for helping us help Donte!
Recently, HAPCO has held Master Classes at Evans High School conducted by Dr. Todd Williams, associate professor of music education at Indiana Wesleyan University, and Jeff Rupert, director of jazz studies at UCF.
If you have an unwanted musical instrument, donate it to HAPCO — we will pay it forward to a student in need.
