HAPCO is proud to help four Evans High School orchestra students attend the Florida State University College of Music’s String Orchestra camp. Bacarri, Daymoir, Debrah and Michaela will head to Tallahassee in June for the week-long camp.
These scholarships are funded by Walmart Supercenter #4588, 3101 W Princeton St in Orlando.
During camp, they will play in an orchestra twice per day, a chamber ensemble once per day, attend sectionals and participate in master classes. They will attend daily elective classes covering topics including fiddling, conducting, steel pans and practice time. They will perform in two final camp performances: a Chamber Ensembles Concert and the String Orchestra Final Performance. They will also attend faculty concerts, tour the campus and get to know FSU’s Music Admissions team.
All four students play the violin. They share a commitment to personal, creative and intellectual growth and are passionate about learning. These high schoolers have strong work ethics and are driven to achieve excellence in all facets of their lives.
Debrah summed up brilliantly why HAPCO does what we do: “Being a musician is about more than just playing notes – it’s how I express myself and connect with people. Music lets me say things I can’t always put into words. It’s a big part of who I am, and I honestly don’t know who I’d be without it.”
Thanks to Osvaldo Quezada, Director of Orchestra at Evans High School, for helping to facilitate these scholarships.
