More of AdventHealth's Design and Construction Team's built and donated guitars have extremely happy new owners – Evans High School band students Isaiah, Joel, Jayon and Smith.
Jayon has grown up around music and plays several instruments, but his true passion is the guitar. He said that having a guitar to play at home would help him learn to his full potential.
Isaiah has been playing acoustic guitar for three years. He is excited to have more opportunities to practice what he composes in his mind. He said that the electric guitars will add a different sound to school practices and concerts, as they don't have any electric guitars. He enjoys playing rock, as the "genre allows the electric guitar to play a primary role in the music." He wants to learn beat production to create his own unique sound rather than using samples.
Smith has been playing acoustic guitar for over two years. He fell in love with it, and is excited to play the electric guitar as well. His passion for guitar is reflected in his playing several hours every day.
Joel was introduced to guitar when he was eight years old, but did not pursue it then due to a lack of resources. Last year, he took guitar class so he could learn more about different music genres. Some styles he has learnt are rumba-flamenco, rock, blues, and metal; the "smooth transitions of different notes and pitches" of these genres greatly interested him. He credits playing guitar with helping him meet a larger variety of people, expanding his network of friends and learning more about each genre. He said that with this guitar, he "will be able to play a larger variety of music and be able to customize the sound the guitar produces." He also looks forward to being able to contribute more to music classes, clubs and events.
This is an amazing group of young men who share a true passion for music and the guitar.
Thanks to Music Teacher Osvaldo Quezada and Director of Bands Mario Ford at Evans for coordinating these gifts, and to AdventHealth's Design and Construction Team for making it possible!
