2024 Swing & Groove Jazz Party during FAMU Homecoming

Dr. Julian E. White, HAPCO’s First Legends Award Winner

We are honored to have the opportunity to honor an incredible music LEGEND – Dr. Julian E. White. At our Swing & Groove Jazz Party during FAMU Homecoming 2024 in November, we presented Dr. White with our first HAPCO Legends award. He has mentored, inspired and educated so many people over the years, making us all better people.

Dr. White is the retired Distinguished Professor of Music, Director of Bands and Chairman, FAMU Music Department. Under his leadership, the internationally acclaimed Marching 100 performed at three Super Bowls, The Grammys, The ESPY awards ceremony, CBS Game Day, and the Inaugural Parade for Presidents William Clinton and Barak Obama. The FAMU Wind Ensemble performed at the American Bandmasters Association Convention, and others.

Thanks also to the team at The Parkview at Cascades; the Joël Johnson Quartet; the Brian Hall Quartet; Sterling Stevenson; Chef Rodney James; World-Class Barber Jeffrey Davis, owner of Astute Gentlemen Cigar & Barber Lounge in Dallas; and Flatware on the Go’s Susie McClintock. And thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible evening!
