Bandstand Rhythm Clinic with Brandon Robertson

Brandon Robertson, Director of Jazz Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University, shared great principles of musicianship at our Bandstand Rhythm free online clinic yesterday. He discussed the different focus and way of thinking for studio versus live performance. He shared on-stage non-verbal communication techniques, how to improvise and his top 10 albums for rhythm section musicians to study.

He also presented the power of a great attitude and work ethic on and off stage, with engaging real-life examples of how to take a performance to the next level. We thank Brandon for leading this clinic and for all the students who joined us.

Robertson is a Suncoast Emmy Award Nominated Music Director and host of the popular web series the “Brandon Robertson Soul Hour.” “Bass’d on a True Story,” his debut release in 2019, reached #16 on the iTunes Top 200 Jazz Releases list.
