HAPCO Founder Joseph HAP McMullen (pictured center) gifted two Evans High School band students with electric guitars for home this week.
These guitars were donated to HAPCO by AdventHealth’s Design and Construction Team which built 10 guitars as a team building project late last year.
Pictured left: Peyton’s first guitar was an acoustic guitar that his dad had hung on the wall as decoration. His dad encouraged him every time he learned a new song. With his new electric guitar for home, he hopes to continue making his father proud of him by improving his talents and learning even more songs. His middle school band teacher was instrumental in Peyton developing his skills, mentoring him to persevere in his continued learning. He gave Peyton the confidence to do his first solo performance at his graduation. Peyton said, “I loved doing that performance! It will make me very happy if I can tell my band director that I made it in music and it is all because of him.”
Pictured right: Rodney is an International Baccalaureate (IB) program student; all his courses are honors level and he holds a 4.1 GPA. Always drawn to music, he found in it a way to channel and harness his emotions. He believes that being given the opportunity to play guitar in school band is one of the best things that have happened to him in his life. His goal is to immerse himself further into music as a songwriter. He said that “being gifted a guitar for home is one of the greatest blessings I have ever received.”
Thanks to Music Teacher Osvaldo Quezada and Director of Bands Mario Ford at Evans for coordinating these gifts, and to AdventHealth’s Design and Construction Team for making it possible!
