Schelvin D. Robinson is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Florida State University, where he is pursuing a Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance with a certificate in Arts Administration and College Teaching. He received the McKnight Doctoral and Dissertation Fellowship (2025–2026). Robinson also holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Florida A&M University.
As an active performer and educator, Robinson serves as an Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Virginia State University, overseeing the trumpet studio, applied lessons, and trumpet ensemble. He has conducted masterclasses at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stetson University, and was a featured presenter at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference in 2025. As a soloist, he has performed at the Southeastern Trumpet Festival, with the Broward College Symphonic Band, the Florida State University Concert Band, and with ensembles including the Albany Symphony Orchestra, New Canon Chamber Orchestra, and the Gainesville and Ocala Symphony Orchestras.
In addition to his teaching and performing, Robinson is the founder of Trumpet Outreach for Youth Education (T.O.Y.E.), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the next generation of trumpet players through workshops, mentorship, and educational resources. His diverse career also includes international touring with The Cody ChesnuTT Band, collaborations with chamber ensembles, and performances at venues from Carnegie Hall to the Montreux Jazz Festival. Robinson is an active member of the International Trumpet Guild, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
