Paul Van Wormer Jr. is a rising star on the Orlando jazz music scene. He is a jazz studies major at the University of Central Florida. He has played piano from an early age; he has played saxophone since middle school.
At Dr. Phillips High School, he played lead tenor in the Jazz 1 band. He played lead alto in the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra Jazz Band 1 under the direction of Jeff Rupert. He was first chair in the OCPS All-County Band for four years. He was on the Florida 19-20 All-State Jazz Band as well as the Tri-State Honors Jazz Band on lead tenor sax.
At Ryan Devlin’s Orlando Jazz Workshop he studied with other musicians including saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz Brown who performed with the Grammy-winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. He has studied with other world-renowned musicians at the Jazz at Lincoln Center/Fordham College summer camp including Alexa Tarantino and Nick Finzer at a Sean Jones master class.
