Key Factors to Enhance Your Musicianship on the Bandstand

Join Brandon Robertson on an exploration of how to improve your live performance as part of a dynamic rhythm section. Pianists, bassists and drummers will gain insights into their roles within a big band and/or combo setting. Learn how to communicate amongst each other without words and how to improvise as a rhythm section. Robertson will also demonstrate techniques, and discusss theory and rhythmic concepts to help foster better musicianship and discipline within a rhythm section.

This free clinic is focused on rhythm section musicians, but other musicians encouraged to attend as well.

Robertson, Director of Jazz Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University, is a Suncoast Emmy Award Nominated Music Director and host of the popular web series the “Brandon Robertson Soul Hour.” “Bass’d on a True Story,” his debut release in 2019, reached #16 on the iTunes Top 200 Jazz Releases list. He has presented jazz clinics, workshops, masterclasses and guest performances in schools K-12 throughout Florida, Georgia, and Texas. As a prominent bandleader, he has taken his band on multiple national tours, headlining at some of the top jazz venues and festivals in the country.
