During this session, (18) local middle and high school jazz bands will perform for a panel of three professional jazz adjudicators. Each band will receive a written and verbal critique of their performance from each panelist. Immediately following the band’s performance they will receive a clinic session with one of the judges. During this clinic the jazz professional will have the opportunity to work specifically on aspects that will enhance the band’s performance as well as broaden the student’s jazz knowledge and capacity. Each band will also have the opportunity to observe one another which is another valuable aspect of a proper music education experience. This also serves as an educational and mentoring opportunity for students.
