Paul Van Wormer
Paul Van Wormer
saxophonist

My name is Paul Van Wormer and I’m a saxophonist based in Orlando Florida. I started my musical career playing piano in about 1st grade and in middle school I started playing the saxophone. I now go to Dr. Phillips High School and play lead tenor in the Jazz 1 band and also play lead alto in the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra Jazz Band 1 under the direction of Professor Jeff Rupert, the jazz saxophone professor at UCF. I was recently informed that I made the Florida 19-20 All-State Jazz Band as well as the Tri-State Honors Jazz Band on lead Tenor sax. I’ve also been 1st chair in the OCPS All-County Band all 4 years of my high school career. Ryan Devlin has been my jazz/saxophone teacher since 7th grade and because of his amazing Orlando Jazz Work Shop summer camp I have been able to study with other amazing musicians like saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz Brown who performed with the Grammy winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. I have also studied with other world renowned musicians at the Jazz at Lincoln Center/Fordham College summer camp like Alexa Tarantino and Nick Finzer, while also attending a Sean Jones master class when I was there. I take Jazz music very seriously and try my hardest not to let my young age limit my potential.
