University of Florida Campus, Music Building
Michele Fernandez will conduct two master classes for the University of Florida Jazz Bands, directed by Scott Wilson. She will discuss the intricacies of common Latin styles using a highly interactive experience where students will actively learn to recognize stylistic details, create bass lines, piano figures and play rhythmic patterns via performance as a “living, audience drum set” and also on phone piano apps.
During the rehearsal phase with the ensemble, Michele will rehearse her works in order to demonstrate authentic stylistic interpretation in both horn and rhythm section components in a manner to include and engage all students. Original works used during this portion may include: “Ardiente”, “Slither”, “Bons Sohnos Maestro”, “Postais Do’ Río”, “Misteriosa”, “Misty” (arr.). All MP3’s on Soundcloud or www.Michele-Fernandez.com)
