As part of the Apopka Saturday Sounds series, celebrate jazz music with the world this International Jazz Day weekend! Enjoy jazz music from HAPCO Music Foundation’s Derrick Harris & Eighth Note Collective. Join us at this free performance!

The Apopka Amphitheater has 1360 seats with additional lawn space. Bring blankets and chairs. Vendors will be on-site for food and drink purchases. Picnic baskets and coolers are permitted.

The Eighth Note Collective is a group of talented musicians that can provide musical entertainment of a wide variety of genres. Jazz, R&B, Latin, Funk and original compositions. He is the CEO of Eighth Note Productions and a trombonist in the Dr. Phillips Jazz Orchestra. When performing, he aims to create a sensational, melodic atmosphere for his audiences. He plays both originally composed and arranged music, as well as interpretations of popular music from a variety of styles. He plays many musical styles including jazz, big band, and ‘50s and ‘60s rock; Caribbean music is a specialty.

HAPCO Music Foundation helps disadvantaged young people use their musical, culinary and artistic talents to build their better futures. The non-profit organization has education and performance programs in Florida, Texas and Georgia. Students use their musical, culinary and artistic talents to fund their college education or to pursue professional careers.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. Each year, this international art form is recognized for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity; eradicating discrimination; fostering gender equality; and promoting freedom of expression.
