Experience high-octane modern jazz from the Martin Bejerano #CubanAmerican Trio at this free outdoor concert on Saturday, Oct 7 in Oakland, Florida.

Latin GRAMMY nominated pianist Martin Bejerano fronts this internationally acclaimed trio, accompanied by renown Cuban drummer Ludwig Afonso and GRAMMY nominated New York City bassist Edward Pérez.

Bring chairs or a blanket. Food and beverages will be available from food trucks. Coolers are not permitted.

The trio has four albums released, including Trio Miami, which was chosen as Downbeat Magazine’s “Editor’s Pick” in 2016, and their latest critically acclaimed release, Martin Bejerano #CubanAmerican Trio. This innovative album features a unique blend of Bejerano’s Cuban and American musical roots, through both original compositions and modern reworking of old Latin American standards.

A veteran of Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award-winning artist Roy Haynes’s band, Martin has recorded on over 25 albums, including the Latin GRAMMY nominated Martin Bejerano #CubanAmerican Trio, the GRAMMY nominated Fountain of Youth (Roy Haynes) and the Latin GRAMMY nominated Ontology (Roxana Amed).

Ludwig Afonso has performed with Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Eldar, Richard Bona, Yosvany Terry, Spyro Gyra and others. Edward Pérez has performed with The Terraza Big Band, Ignacio Berroa, Dafnis Prieto, Hector Martignon, Mark Turner, Silkroad Ensemble and others.

Winners of multiple ensemble and composer grants and commissions, the trio was featured on NPR’s nationally syndicated show “Jazz Set with Dee Dee Bridgewater” and has performed at such notable venues as Symphony Space (NYC), Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, the Jazz Gallery, Arturo Sandoval’s Jazz Club, Festival Miami, South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center, El Hatillo Jazz Festival, Barquisimeto Jazz Festival, Miami International Jazz Festival, and the St. Petersburg Jazz Festival.

Martin is also an established educator, as head of the jazz piano department at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, one of the world’s premier jazz schools.

He has also performed and/or recorded with such luminaries as Dave Holland, Christian McBride, Pat Metheny, Ron Carter, Russell Malone, Ignacio Berroa, Dafnis Prieto, and Jonathan Kreisberg, including performances on the David Letterman Show, and at nearly all of the major jazz festivals, clubs, and concert halls across the world.
