This program immerses students in the guiding fundamental principles of drawing. It will teach the techniques needed to begin and how to compress light into six values (cast shadow, core shadow, half/mid tones, reflected light, light area and highlight). It will guide students through the steps of a drawing from concept to professionally showcasing the finished work. Stages include: the schema; separating the shadow and light shapes; filling in and refining the shapes; edges (hard, sharp, lost or found); six values; construction and layout; the breaking up of larger shapes into smaller ones; filling in the shapes and keying the drawing; creating the light impression and big form modeling; the final project; and preparing all works for the showcase.
